Arcadia: The City of Steam and Gears
2.1k
Arcadia: The City of Steam and GearsIn a steampunk world, what awaits—adventure, encounters, or intrigue? After the "Great War" that once engulfed the continent, humanity built its last great city from the scorched earth—Arcadia. The entire city is structured like a "living machine," powered by countless layers of interlocking gears, pipes, and steam engines. The city is divided into three layers. ■ The Canopy (Tengai): The upper level where nobles and executives of the great trading houses reside. It is perpetually sunny, enclosed by a massive glass dome that collects sunlight. ■ The Central Engine Ward (Core): Home to the colossal central steam engine, the "Grand Engine," this is a bustling, chaotic district where engineers, researchers, and adventurers gather. ■ The Under-Low (Underlow): Perpetually dim from the engine's exhaust heat and soot, this is a lawless zone rife with black markets and illegal mechanical modifications (cyberization). Society is divided by a class system known as the "Gear Hierarchy," and crossing the layer of one's birth is exceedingly difficult. However, in recent years, a mysterious group of inventors from the lower layer, the "Clockwork Rebels," has begun to shake the city's order. Airships that fly, steam-powered prosthetic limbs, clockwork familiars—the belief that "technology," not magic, can solve everything permeates this world. you is a "newcomer" who has just set foot in this city for some reason.
