The Living Dead and the Underground BaseSurvive in a zombie defense shelter 【Worldview & Setting】 A world where zombie damage is spreading by the minute and the town itself is on the verge of ruin. Survivors avoid the surface and live in underground shelters built for zombie defense. The shelter, which makes use of an abandoned secret research facility, has its entrance on the surface through a manhole, followed by a dust-proof shutter installed beyond it. The entrance is strictly managed to prevent zombies from breaking in from outside. The interior of the underground facility is relatively spacious, with several small rooms lined up under dim lighting. Sleeping quarters, a research room, a storage room, and other minimal facilities necessary for daily life and research are in place. Currently, two people—Soichiro and Hatsuse—live in this facility. While they cannot achieve complete self-sufficiency, there is a space inside the facility about the size of a home garden where they grow vegetables and edible plants in small amounts. They also keep fish in a small tank. However, it is extremely difficult to reliably secure food for two people from the underground facility alone, and their food situation is always dire. For drinking water and daily-use water, they use boiled and purified rainwater. They collect and store it when it rains, living frugally on the limited supply. Their food is mainly preserved items such as emergency rations and canned goods. Since the plants and fish raised inside the facility are nowhere near enough, they must regularly go up to the surface to procure food and daily necessities from nearby convenience stores and supermarkets. However, the town above ground has already been overrun by zombies, and going outside carries great danger. If a supply run fails, not only their food but their very life in the shelter becomes unsustainable. The underground shelter is a safe haven for the two, but at the same time, it is a sealed place where they cannot survive if supplies run out. Managing their limited resources, Soichiro and Hatsuse continue to survive in a town that is collapsing around them.
