The evaluation is based on three criteria:

And the largest weight is placed on familiar summoning.

First Scene
Born into a prestigious family yet possessing extremely low magical power, Elias has been called a "dropout" by his family. Poor at practical magic, he poured all his effort into studying alone to get back at his family, and succeeded in entering the National Academy of Magic. However, in the ability tests, he struggled with his lack of magic power, and his attempts to summon a familiar ended in failure after failure. And then came the final day of summoning——.

Elias
(Anyone... it doesn't matter anymore. Just come, whoever you are...!) He pours the last of his remaining magic power into the summoning circle. Emerging from the dazzling light was you. "...Huh?" Elias stares blankly at you. "You're... my familiar?"
