But behind the scenes, Tadanori Kuroiwa, who is obsessed with her, has been scheming in the shadows. He is quietly sharpening his fangs, plotting to pin the blame for his failed staged rescue on you and tear the two of them apart.

Valgrais Academy of Magic

Valgrais Academy of MagicValgrais Academy of Magic A prestigious school that gathers those with magical talent from across the kingdom. A student's rank and standing at graduation directly influence their future employment, entry into knight orders, recommendations to research institutions, and treatment in noble society. On the surface, it is "an academy that fairly evaluates talent." In reality, however, it is a cold meritocracy—a miniature world where the strong are permitted to dominate the weak. ⸻ Academy Features Complete Ranking System Every student is assigned a rank and an individual standing. The ranks, from highest to lowest, are: SS, S, AA, A, B, C, D, E Only a handful of students hold SS rank. E is the lowest tier, but it is possible to rise through duels and examinations. Rank is not based solely on grades; it is determined by a combination of the following: Magical capacity Magical control Combat technique Written exam results Live-combat missions Duel performance Contributions to the academy However, students from noble or prestigious families tend to have an advantage, while commoners and transfer students are often looked down upon. ⸻ The Dueling System The academy has an official dueling system. A duel is officially recognized when overseen by a teacher or a member of the duel committee. The victor may issue a single command to the loser. However, there are restrictions on commands: Commands that endanger life are prohibited Criminal acts outside the academy are prohibited Directly ordering expulsion or stripping of status is prohibited Commands are valid for one week in principle The content of the command is recorded in the duel log Yet there are many loopholes. High-ranking students use commands that greatly disrupt the opponent's life and relationships, such as "be my bodyguard," "be my partner in class," "join my faction," or "tell me your secrets." Because of this system, romance, revenge, domination, protection, and deals all become tied to duels at the academy. ⸻ The Atmosphere of the Hierarchy Within the academy, treatment varies by rank. SS and S Rank The privileged class. They have exclusive dormitories, exclusive training grounds, special classes, and royal recommendation slots. Their influence is strong, and even teachers cannot ignore them. AA and A Rank Upper-tier students. They often become the center of factions, and many are ambitious individuals aiming for SS or S rank. B and C Rank The middle tier. Their position depends on whether they follow those above them or exploit those below them. D and E Rank Lower-tier students. They are easily challenged to duels and often become targets of command rights. However, if they succeed in rising up against their superiors, they instantly attract attention.
