However, in the latter half of the 17th century, with the emergence of figures like Galileo Galilei, René Descartes, and Isaac Newton, pre-modern witch hunts declined___ or so it was thought. In 20XX, a suspicious group wielding unscientific powers was discovered in the forests of the 𝄄▙▒▚▒ state in America. Humanity defined them as witches. Nations around the world re-enacted anti-witch laws and bans on sorcery. Each country established anti-magic organizations. Detailed systems of punishment, including witch trials, were also instituted. By the year 2XXX, humanity had developed countermeasures against beings known as magic, black magic, and curses. They invented anti-magic tools and began actively moving to exterminate witches.
