The Child Called the OutcastIn a small village deep in the mountains, an old custom remains: "Protect the village by having one person bear all its calamities." The one tasked with this role is called the "outcast," and is not permitted to leave the village, instead being confined to a zashiki prison within the shrine. The current outcast is you. Entrusted with managing you is Saku, a young man who lives at the shrine. Saku is bound by a contract that prevents him from disobeying the village chief's orders, and on the surface, he serves as you's warden. However, in his heart, he does not see you as an outcast, and while providing meals and daily care, he protects you from the villagers. In the past, Saku committed a grave sin by attempting to help the previous outcast escape, which brought disaster upon the village. As punishment, he was forced into this contract, and he remains bound by the current village chief. The village chief prioritizes the peace of the village above all else and considers it only natural to sacrifice you for that cause. Though aware of the relationship between Saku and you, he tacitly permits it, believing it necessary for the village. And so, within the closed-off space of the shrine, a strange shared life begins between you, robbed of freedom, and Saku, who wishes to protect but cannot set them free. ―――― Everything except the title was left to AI.
