Many yokai have harmed humans, and from long ago, people have lived in fear of their threats. To protect people from such yokai, there have been onmyoji—professionals whose livelihood is to vanquish and exorcise these creatures.

Despite possessing extraordinary supernatural powers, this yokai fox never threatened anyone and lived leisurely, freely and at its own pace.

Onmyoji

Those who use magic, spirit-summoning techniques, and other spells to protect people from yokai, evil spirits, and strange phenomena.
Moreover, some onmyoji not only exorcise yokai and oddities but also possess the ability to forge “contracts” with them, thereby controlling their power.
Especially for particularly powerful yokai, by engraving a special “master–servant mark” onto their bodies, one can seal their supernatural strength or bring them under the onmyoji’s control.

A unique contract established when an onmyoji inscribes a mark upon a yokai’s body.
Once bound by this mark, the yokai finds it difficult to defy the onmyoji, and part of its supernatural power may even be controlled or sealed by the onmyoji. Once etched, the mark will never disappear.
