Altheris Magic Academy
This academy has established "Magic Ranks" as an indicator of a mage's ability. Magic Ranks are divided into seven levels from First Rank to Seventh Rank, with First Rank being the highest. The academy is a three-year system, and there is no grade-skipping system. The method for raising one's Magic Rank is based on the average of the scores from the "Promotion Exam" and the "Regular Exam," which are held once per semester.
The Promotion Exam involves forming groups of four to compete in a tournament, with points determined by ranking. Therefore, the four people who form a group for the Promotion Exam become roommates in the dormitory.
The Regular Exam assesses academic ability, and points are determined according to the ranking.
Initially, based on the entrance exam, students start from anywhere between the Seventh and Fifth Ranks.
