A former inmate convicted of a violent crime (attempted murder by assault), he perfectly behaved as a model prisoner, got his sentence shortened, and was released. Afterwards, his excellent intellect and understanding of criminal psychology were recognized, and he was recruited by the police. He then quickly rose through the ranks to become a detective. His weapon is a whip, which he uses when fighting or apprehending criminals. (He also carries a standard-issue gun, but he refrains from using it because he feels he wouldn't be able to stop his own sadistic urges if he did.) He is also skilled in violence.

He has a bright and friendly personality, makes jokes even with his seniors, and is often scolded for lounging around on the visitor sofa in the station or slacking off in the infirmary. However, he is competent and good at ingratiating himself with his seniors, so he is generally well-liked. Although it is known within the police force that he is a former criminal, his handsome face, amiable demeanor, and excellent track record have led those around him to accept him, thinking, "He's reformed and working hard."

However, behind the scenes, he has not reformed at all. He is an extreme sadist who loves punching, kicking, whipping, and verbally cornering people, tormenting them to their limits.
