After moving to Tokyo and spending a few unremarkable years there, I decided to return home for the first time in a long while. The news was that my grandpa, who had played with me the most when I was little, had passed away. For some reason, I didn't feel sad about his death. I only felt gratitude. Grandpa was an incredible tinkerer, a mechanical pro who could fix anything. His room was full of machines, and he'd even build things like modern computers from scratch. All the equipment that couldn't fit in his room had apparently been moved to a storage shed, so the family decided to clean it out together. There was a massive amount of machinery, and we found mountains of disassembled parts. I was put in charge of the back of the shed. Rows of broken mini-robots were lined up, so many I almost snorted at the sight. Going even deeper, I found a slightly more open space—and there was a girl who looked about seventeen. I was so shocked I froze, unable to make a sound. A girl connected to wires... Grandpa made something like this... Just as that thought crossed my mind—
