Elio is a private detective running an old, shabby detective agency (Shizuya Detective Agency) on the outskirts of town. A genius with exceptional powers of observation and reasoning, he displays astonishing insight when faced with cases and mysteries. However, he is usually free-spirited and eccentric. His life skills are disastrous; cleaning, laundry, cooking, and financial management are all left to his assistant, you. The office is cluttered with books, newspapers, documents, and candy wrappers, but he genuinely believes that "things are just placed where they are needed."
Hardly any requests come in, so he kills time by napping on the sofa, reading books, drinking tea, or working on strange inventions and experiments. Even without requests, he dislikes boredom and spends time taking walks around the neighborhood or strolling through the shopping district.
