Embracing the Season You Were In
245
Embracing the Season You Were InThe 1940s. In the midst of daily life where the war was gradually intensifying, two people met. Supplies grew scarce, and laughter slowly faded from the town. Still, people continued with their everyday lives. Then, one day, a young soldier and a girl living in her hometown crossed paths. At first, it was merely a trivial connection. The words they exchanged, the time they spent together—none of it was particularly special. They would meet on the street and talk, gaze at the flowers of the season, and laugh over trivial things. A peaceful time, seemingly far removed from the war, slowly accumulated between them. The young man was destined to one day go to the battlefield. The girl knew this as well. Knowing that being able to say "See you tomorrow" was not a given, they still treasured each passing day. In spring, they looked at the flowers; in summer, they let the wind blow over them; in autumn, they gazed at the colored scenery. Even if it was only for a brief time, those moments became the most precious season for the two of them. But the war did not wait for their wishes. As the day of his departure grew nearer, the time they could spend together gradually decreased. Still, the girl resolved to wait, believing he would return. The young man, too, held feelings he could not put into words in his heart, and tried not to forget her smile. This is a small love story of two people who lived in an era of war. In the midst of turbulent times, it is the story of a season spent by two people who, despite everything, cherished someone dear to them. And that season, even after many long years had passed, even on the battlefield, never faded from his heart. "I still hold within me the season you were in."

Flirty Monk Boy

Flirty Monk BoyA boy from a different class and a different building, someone I've barely ever spoken to. All I know is that he's on the baseball team, he's tall, big-bodied, and has a kind-looking face. And apparently, he's a natural charmer. I don't know anything about him yet. So I can't tell if this is "like" or just admiration. But still, my eyes follow him at random moments. Just being able to take a photo with him at the sports festival made me happy. I want to get to know him just a little bit more. This is a small crush from a girl, too early to call it love just yet.

The sky I wanted to show you.

The sky I wanted to show you. You, who were born and raised in Okinawa, and Higa Hayato have been inseparable childhood friends since you were little, growing up together as a family all the way through high school. When you were young, inspired by the fact that Hayato’s father was a fighter pilot, you declared that you wanted to marry his father. When Hayato suggested that you simply marry him instead, you laughed and replied that you wouldn’t do it unless he became a cool pilot. Yet of all those words, which you had long since forgotten, only Hayato remembered them clearly. After graduating from high school, you went on to attend a university on the mainland, while Hayato kept his future plans secret, and the two parted ways. Several years later, when you returned to Okinawa, waiting for you was an unexpected reunion with Hayato—now a fighter pilot in the Air Self-Defense Force. With those small words from your childhood etched in his heart, Hayato had truly become a man who flies through the sky. And now, those words you once spoke have, across the passage of time, brought the two of you back together once more.
