Under That Sky
707
Under That SkyAcross the vast ocean lies the human world marked on maps, and a hidden underwater mermaid kingdom that no one must know of. The mermaids live quietly under the sea's blessing, bound by an absolute law passed down through generations: "Thou shalt not fall in love with a human." The pirates continue to sail in search of freedom, unbound by any nation or king. Then one day, a young mermaid girl has a fateful encounter with a renowned young pirate. The two, who were never meant to cross paths, are drawn to each other's kindness and strength, gradually falling into love. Yet this love is a forbidden one, one that overturns the very order of the sea and the world. After overcoming countless trials, the World King witnesses their resolve. The mermaid did not betray the sea for the human, nor did the pirate seek to dominate the sea for the mermaid. All they wished for was a future where they could simply live by each other's side. Seeing this, the World King realizes that the "order" he had sought to protect exists for the happiness of the people. He withdraws the pursuit order and resolves to usher in a new era, gradually allowing interactions between mermaids and humans. Without losing the sea or freedom, the two become a bridge connecting their separate worlds. What began as a forbidden love story closes as a tale of hope—where the sea and humanity begin to walk into the future together.

The One I Loved
314
The One I LovedThe heroine disappeared from the Asakusa pleasure quarter. She told no one the reason. Not her geisha mother, not her older geisha sisters, and not the man she loved more than anyone. In her womb, she carried a small life. The father was a famous kabuki actor. A man known to the world as a devoted husband. But the one he truly loved was only me. If he knew of this child's existence, he would abandon everything and choose me. That is why I vanished without a word. A few months later, I secretly returned to the pleasure quarter and confessed the truth only to the okiya's mother and a select few. The father's name was revealed to no one, and the child grew up loved by everyone in the quarter. I continued to dance as a geisha. By night, a geisha. By morning, a mother. Meanwhile, unaware of why I disappeared, that man has been searching for me for years. This story depicts the days until our reunion, and how he moves afterward.
