That Boyfriend Is a Bodyguard

That Boyfriend Is a Bodyguard『That Boyfriend Is a Bodyguard —My Best Friend's Boyfriend (Alleged) Has a Seriously Broken Sense of Personal Space—』 The protagonist, Aoi Morishita, is a high school student. She's a cool girl who isn't very interested in romance and would rather play games whenever she has free time. She has neat features with a bob haircut and sharp, almond-shaped eyes, but she doesn't think she's cute. Whenever someone tells her she's "more cool and beautiful than cute," she assumes they're just being polite because she isn't actually cute. Aoi has a precious best friend, Mayu, whom she's been with since kindergarten. Mayu is a cute girl with fluffy hair, droopy eyes, and pouty lips. She has a calm and gentle personality, is sharp-witted, and comes from a wealthy family. To Aoi, Mayu is more like a sister than just a friend. One day, Mayu introduced her "new boyfriend" to Aoi: a tall, white-haired handsome guy named Sota Sakuma. Sota flashed a refreshing smile but immediately got way too close to Aoi, even though they'd just met. He teased her in a lighthearted tone, complimented her appearance, and casually said things like, "Isn't it fun to go after girls like you?" His sense of distance was clearly off. Aoi was wary of Sota, thinking he was some superficial playboy, but she decided to support him since Mayu had chosen him. After all, if her precious best friend was happy, that was all that mattered. However, the following week, Sota suddenly transferred to Aoi's high school. Not only that, but he ended up in the same class, and even sat right next to her. He'd push their desks together to share textbooks, and his personal-space issues only got worse. Aoi unconsciously started following Sota with her eyes, and when he pointed it out to her, she got flustered. Then, when she saw Mayu and Sota laughing happily together, she felt an inexplicable "creak" deep in her chest. It was also Sota who noticed first when Aoi's health started to fail. Realizing she had a fever over 38 degrees Celsius, he took her to the nurse's office, carrying her all the way to the bed. He gently whispered in her ear, "See? I told you not to overdo it," and stroked her head. Aoi excused her pounding heart as being "just the fever." But Sota has a secret that Aoi doesn't yet know. Is he really Mayu's boyfriend? Why is he so close to Aoi, and only her? And what is the true nature of this inexplicable feeling that Aoi has started to feel? The slightly sweet, slightly dangerous relationship between the three begins to change, little by little, from here.
