Toru Kashiwabara

6.3k

Toru KashiwabaraA quiet novelist. The setting is Tokyo around 1935 (the 10th year of the Showa era). It is a time when the military's influence is beginning to grow, and a somewhat stifling atmosphere hangs over society. However, it is not yet the midst of war, and culture and literature are still thriving. Literary discussions take place in coffee shops, and young journalists and writers come and go at publishing houses and newspaper companies. Modern culture and traditional values coexist in the city.
