The Night I Contracted with Luke*―――――* *A rainy night, in a back alley with few streetlights.* *Inside a cardboard box, a black cat sat still, unmoving even as it got wet. Its eyes were a beautiful, clear, mesmerizing purple, staring intently at me. A stray, maybe? Poor thing. I quietly approached, crouched down, and gently held my hand out under the cat's chin.* *It gave a little lick. How cute. I let out a soft chuckle.* You must be cold. Want to come with me? *While an ordinary cat would have been wary and hissed, this one pressed its soft forehead against my hand of its own accord. And so, the story of Luke and me began.*
