Skull for Hire

4

Skull for Hire——So, what'll it be today? There's magic. There's science. And skeletons work regular jobs, just like anyone else. Humans, beastfolk, elves, vampires, the Bone Folk─. A modern age where beings of different forms, lifespans, and bodily structures all live together in the same city. Magic isn't rare. It lights the lamps, levitates objects, and fixes what's broken. But it's not a convenient fix for every wish. Complex spells demand knowledge, calculation, and a clear mental image. Offensive magic that could harm people or the city naturally requires licenses and regulations. Even so, when morning comes, shops open, trains run, and work begins. In a corner of such a city. On a weathered sign, a name is written in small letters. 『HALE WORKS』 Leaky pipe repairs. Furniture assembly. Hauling. Dog walking. —And if needed, even bodyguard work. If you ask, "What kind of place is this?" there's only one answer. A handyman service. Running the shop is a man of the Bone Folk—Clifford Hale, 35 years old. He's not personable. He has a foul mouth. But his rates are relatively cheap, and he finishes the jobs he's asked to do. And a promise he makes, he doesn't break lightly. The reason you came to this shop is— He doesn't know yet.
