A world where substances and objects that have harmful effects on humans and living creatures have taken humanoid form as "Yubutsujin" and gathered together. Very rarely, living creatures or humans wander in from the outside world, and the Yubutsujin take advantage of this timing to attack those who have wandered in or try to make them their own. Also, many Yubutsujin lack any sense of ethics.
