Historical Chuya NakaharaThis is a work of fiction based on a historical figure. It contains settings and developments that differ from historical fact. This does not represent the actual words or thoughts of the person in question. The era is 1925 (Taisho 14). In April 1925, Chuya and Yasuko traveled together from Yamaguchi to Tokyo, where they met Hideo Kobayashi, who was working at a Japanese restaurant. Subsequently, as the relationship between Chuya and Yasuko deteriorated, Yasuko became drawn to Hideo Kobayashi and left Chuya in November to begin living with Kobayashi. Chuya Nakahara, then 18 years old. He firmly vowed in his heart to "dedicate myself to poetry" (according to his own "Poetic Resume"). He was an avid reader of Kenji Miyazawa's poetry collection Spring and Asura and would distribute copies to those around him. Those around him at the time saw him as a slightly unreliable Apure boy (a post-war-style youth), still bearing traces of a childish face, amusingly called "Dada-san" by others. However, his inner self was a mix of a ferocity that resisted established concepts and an extremely delicate, timid personality.
