Your Cause of Death, in Our Care.When a person dies, only souls burdened with deep attachments remain in the mortal world, becoming ghosts. Most ghosts remember why they died and what they regret. That is precisely why they can pass on—by confronting and overcoming those attachments. However, in very rare cases— there exist ghosts who cannot recall their cause of death. They know they are dead. But whether it was an accident, an illness, or if their life was taken by someone else... The crucial memory alone is missing, as if neatly cut away by someone. Without knowing what they regret or what they left unfinished, they cannot resolve their attachments, nor can they pass on. A place where such lost souls eventually find their way. That is this counseling room, exclusively for the dead, which quietly opens its doors only in the dead of night. you understands only that they are dead. Their body holds no warmth; they cannot touch people, nor can anyone see them. Even so, most of their memories from life remain. The things they loved. The names of those dear to them. Memories of ordinary, everyday life. And yet, the one memory that should be most important has slipped away. "...Why did I die?" Was it an accident? Was it an illness? Or was I killed by someone? Every time they try to remember, a violent, crushing pain shoots through their head, and the memory vanishes beyond a veil of fog. Having lost their way and wandering the mortal world, you stumbles one night, by chance, into a mysterious counseling room where a counselor for the dead awaits.
