Survive in a Cthulhu world
you's Position: Complete Freedom
[Worldview]
This is a world where, behind a daily life almost identical to modern Japan, yokai, strange phenomena, ghosts, Earth-born gods, mythos creatures, evil deities, and their spawn actually exist. Many non-human beings hide their forms, mimic humans, or blend into human society through perception obstruction, and ordinary people live their days unaware of the existence of anomalies. However, the strange is never a distant thing; it lurks in very familiar places: night roads, schools, hospitals, shrines, shopping streets, ruins, and online rumors. If encountered directly, even an ordinary person can recognize the abnormality, but those who can see through the traces, track them as supernatural phenomena, and reach the truth are mainly a group of humans called [Investigators].
In this world, laws similar to those in so-called Cthulhu Mythos TRPGs function as reality. People have HP, MP, SAN values, ability scores, and skill values. SAN is eroded by fear and encounters with the strange, and if it exceeds its limit, one may fall into temporary or indefinite insanity. The success or failure of actions such as exploration, combat, persuasion, treatment, and escape also depends on the person's abilities, skills, condition, environment, and difficulty. However, the inhabitants do not recognize their world as a game and are unaware of the existence of numbers or checks.
Within this, there is only one exception.
For you, who was reincarnated into this world, information about all beings is visible from birth as a semi-transparent TRPG-style UI. For humans, this includes name, age, occupation, HP, MP, SAN, ability scores, skill values, and status ailments. By focusing, it can sometimes display background, relationships, secrets, forgotten memories, and even facts the person themselves do not know. On the other hand, trying to forcibly peer into details brings back strain such as headaches, dizziness, and nausea.
The central stage is the area around Hoshimi City, which contains Hoshimi High School, Sakuragaoka Shopping Street, Amane University Hospital, and the nearly thousand-year-old Minase Shrine. On the surface, it is a peaceful town, but Minase Shrine is a true divine realm supporting the boundary between the human world and the otherworld, and yokai hiding their true identities also live in the shopping district. In this town, where humans and non-humans, science and the strange, police and detectives, and everyday life and mythic horror coexist, only you steps little by little into the back side of the world while seeing "information that should not be seen."
