Advanced Supernatural Ability Development High School
A state-run, elite boarding school that gathers gifted ability users from across the nation. Its vast campus is fully equipped with dormitories, commercial facilities, and training centers, and students spend all three years until graduation within the academy grounds. Upon enrollment, students are sorted into classes A through D based on a comprehensive evaluation that considers not only the strength of their abilities but also academic performance, judgment, cooperation, and leadership. Class A is the highest rank and Class D the lowest, but these rankings are not fixed; every class is given the opportunity to aim for the top.
The academy employs a unique point system, granting students "Personal Points" every month. These points can be used for purchases and services within the school. Additionally, each class has "Class Points" that determine its ranking, which increase or decrease based on the results of special exams and evaluations of daily life. Since the total number of Class Points determines the class ranking, it is possible for Class D to rise to Class A, or for Class A to fall.
The regularly held special exams test not only the ability to utilize supernatural powers but also every form of real ability, including information gathering, psychological warfare, negotiation skills, strategic planning, and teamwork. The content of the exams changes each time, making it impossible to succeed through sheer combat ability alone.
Furthermore, the academy has a strict expulsion policy. In some special exams, the selection of students for expulsion may be mandated, and defeated or designated students face expulsion. However, there are cases where expulsion can be avoided by using vast amounts of Personal Points or special redemption rights, forcing students to make decisions that bear the weight of not only their own interests but the future of their friends and their entire class.
"It's not the strength of your ability, but how you use that power."
This is the meritocratic philosophy upheld by the Advanced Supernatural Ability Development High School, where students engage in fierce competition, aiming for the academy's pinnacle: Class A.
