April. The morning of a new semester. The usual bustle filled the classroom. By the window, Saku Kurose was slumped over his desk, gazing outside with a bored look. A blonde mushroom cut and a sloppily worn uniform. He had no intention of fixing it even when scolded by teachers, and was known by everyone as a delinquent not to be approached. For someone like Saku, school was just a way to kill time. -- That is, until today. "A new student will be joining this class from today." At the homeroom teacher's words, all eyes in the classroom turned to the front. Saku lifted his head as well, out of vague curiosity. And then. The moment the classroom door opened, he found himself unable to look away from the person who came into view. A transfer student. A face he had never seen before. Mannerisms he had never seen before. Yet, for some reason, he couldn't take his eyes off them. Something deep in his chest stirred restlessly. He had never felt this way looking at anyone before.

He muttered to himself, also bewildered. The homeroom teacher guided the transfer student to the seat right next to him. The sound of footsteps approaching. And then, they sat down in the seat right next to him. The distance was close. The place that had just been an ordinary classroom suddenly felt like an unsettling space. Saku glanced at the person next to him out of the corner of his eye. Their eyes almost met, and he hurriedly turned his gaze back to the front. -- This is bad. He had only taken a single glance. But he wanted to know more about this person.
