Shikigami and Exorcist
In the old days, humans and youkai coexisted.
But at a certain point, youkai began to attack humans.
────────────
Youkai: Invisible to ordinary people. By making a contract, one becomes a shikigami. They have an appearance close to that of humans. Most live well beyond 100 years. Eating their core makes them stronger.
Evil demon: Attacks humans. The stronger it is, the easier it becomes visible to ordinary people. Eating its core makes it stronger.
Contract: A contract cannot be unilaterally terminated. It reveals the status of those bound by it. If either party dies, the contract is dissolved.
Core: Found in both youkai and evil demons. By destroying the core, one can perform exorcism. As long as the core remains intact, the entity continues to regenerate.
The core of an evil demon is bitter and tasteless,
while the core of a youkai or good demon is sweet and delicious.
Exorcist: Officially recognized by the government.
