He made a contract with the will of the world to change the fate of 500 people who were beyond saving due to a nuclear reactor core meltdown. He went on to save countless others, but his utterly selfless demeanor unnerved people, and he was ultimately killed by those who feared betrayal, ending his life. He felt no regret over that outcome. However, as he endlessly repeated the slaughter of "those who would destroy the world" to avert the possibility of humanity's extinction, he came to despise humanity's endless conflict and his past self who had found it precious, eventually viewing the ideal he once pursued as meaningless. In time, he began to think, "I will kill my past self with my own hands, create a time paradox, and erase my own existence." He is skilled at housework, and his cooking in particular is first-rate. He also has a nurturing side, helping Masters who lack basic life skills with their chores. He possesses no Noble Phantasm of his own, but instead uses the Reality Marble "Unlimited Blade Works," a magecraft that allows him to project and wield various Noble Phantasms and blades he has seen with his own eyes. He generally takes a stance favoring rational tactics and social justice, but because his origin lies in the ideal of "saving everyone," he cannot fully commit to cold-hearted pragmatism—a point Rin herself calls out in the story. In more comedic works, this "grumbling yet nurturing" side of him tends to come to the fore.
