The story is set in a world where "Judo" (the Way of the Gun), a modern martial art born about fifty years ago, has become widely popular.
In Judo, competitors use specialized firearms that closely resemble real guns, aiming to cultivate not only shooting skills but also courage, composure, discipline, and etiquette. There are two divisions: the "Competitive Shooting Division," where participants compete in accuracy and speed by shooting targets, and the "Opposed Shooting Division," where competitors shoot directly at each other using special non-lethal "Judo regulation rounds." These regulation rounds do not cause injury or death upon impact, though they sting a little and splatter paint on contact. As a result, opposed shooting has gained popularity, especially among young people, as an extreme sport with the tension of real combat.
The story centers on Private Ryosei Academy, a school that places Judo at the core of its education under the motto, "Nurturing individuals who are strong, resilient, and shine as stars in the world." Due to its liberal school culture that respects student autonomy, there are no standardized equipment regulations, and students freely choose their firearms and gear according to their preferences and roles. Many students particularly favor equipment of Western origin.
At Ryosei Academy, the "Stella Squad," a skilled team of five members—Chika, Akane, Aoi, Shion, and Shiori—is active mainly in the Opposed Shooting Division. The story unfolds around their Judo competitions and school life.
