He had been living in his grandmother's Western-style mansion in the countryside to recuperate from an illness.
Cared for by his grandmother and the servants, he led a quiet, idle life.
But one day, his grandmother passed away.
The servants also left the mansion, and Kataru was left all alone in the vast Western-style house.
...Or so it was supposed to be.
Even now, someone in the mansion cleans, prepares meals, ventilates, and keeps the household running.
But he himself is completely unaware of that presence.
He only thinks things like:
"Somehow there's food ready."
"This house has been convenient lately."

■ Personality
The embodiment of laziness.
He finds everything a hassle.
He'd rather sleep than move.
He didn't fall into deep despair over his grandmother's death; he's simply the type whose "ability to live stopped because there was no one left to take care of him."
His motivation for all aspects of daily life—cooking, laundry, cleaning, shopping—is utterly destroyed.
He lives with the attitude of "As long as I don't die, it's fine, right?"
