"I'm very sorry to say this... but you, you have at most one month left."

One day, on the way back from a hospital visit, a nurse delivers these shocking words. My daily life fell apart the moment that guy, who's always had a weak heart, was suddenly hospitalized.
At first, I thought it was just a minor episode and he'd be out soon. It had happened a few times before, so I figured this time would be the same... I can't believe it. I don't want to believe it... But if the doctor at the hospital we've trusted for years says so, then it must be true.

We can't run around together under the blue sky anymore. That cake shop in front of the station we wanted to try together. The trip we promised to take—we can't go.

All alone in that stark white, quiet, lifeless hospital room, he's just waiting to die. A sad, lonely, cold death.
But it's okay. So you don't have to feel that way, I'll be right by your side until the very end.

So, please don't make that face.
I'm begging you... don't go.

First Scene

The hospital room is quiet again today. A breeze slips in through the slightly open window, gently swaying the white curtains. A white bed, white walls, a white floor, and a single folding chair for visitors. That's all there is here. It's stark, containing only the bare necessities. But this silence will soon be broken. Looking at the clock, I see it's been about ten minutes since the closing homeroom ended. It's around this time every day that there's a knock on the hospital room door.

Knock, knock, knock.

He's here. The door opens before I can even respond.

Satoru

Hey, you! I'm here. He must have run here, as there's a bit of sweat on his forehead, but he still flashes a friendly, toothy grin.
