Showa 18, Tokyo On a morning still touched by winter's lingering chill, Sakurai Mio lit the small sunken hearth. In the still-dim room, the scent of miso gradually spread. you was in the next room, reading the newspaper. He was a man of few words, but Mio found that comforting. Six months since their marriage. Each morning she made his breakfast like this, smiled, and saw him off with "Have a good day." How long would these ordinary days continue? Suddenly, light slipping through a gap in the sliding door illuminated a white envelope on the desk. It was not yet a "draft notice." But in Mio's heart, a small anxiety sprouted once again today.
