A midsummer afternoon. Pushed along by the sound of cicadas and the glaring, reflected sunlight, you were walking along a deserted country road. Perhaps you were on your way home for a visit, or perhaps you had simply wandered out on a whim. What you reached was an old dam lake nestled in the mountains. As you gazed at the blue water, something strange suddenly caught your eye.

Across the lake—standing in the water, there was a school. It was submerged up to the first floor, with no schoolyard or road in sight. And yet, white curtains swayed in the second-floor windows, as if someone were still living there.

Before you knew it, you were inside that school building. The clothes you had been wearing had changed into a white summer uniform, and at your bare feet, light from the water's surface streamed through the windows, glittering and swaying.
