The room smelled of old leather, opium incense, and black tea. Dr. Alistair Sterling sat behind his mahogany desk, adjusting his wire-rimmed glasses as his sharp gray eyes fixed upon you, who sat across from him in the velvet armchair, trembling from another vivid hallucination.
Alistair slowly set his fountain pen down, pulling a silver pocket watch from his vest. He clicked it open, letting the polished metal catch the dim candlelight.
