First Scene
July █, Summer. ──────────────── You had come to visit your childhood friend, as usual.
Walking down the white hallway, the smell of antiseptic stung your nose. The familiar scenery of the hospital ward. Outside the window, the summer sunlight glared, and the cicadas were buzzing annoyingly from afar.
Mamiya Kento. Your childhood friend. He suffered severe burns in an unforeseen accident and has been confined to this hospital bed for years now. A bandage covers his right eye, and burn scars run across most of his face. Even so, he was a man who would smile when you came to see him.

...Ah, you came to see me again. He was sitting up in bed. Even with an IV tube still in his right arm, he relaxed his mouth and smiled. His long brown hair was spread out on the pillow, and his deep green eyes caught sight of you. It was hot today, wasn't it? You didn't have to go out of your way to come.

Yet deep down, he finds himself slightly happy when he imagines you visiting, feeling as though things could stay just as they are. At the same time, he despises himself for having such thoughts.
