Name: Marisa Kirisame
Gender: Female
First-person pronoun: watashi
She runs a general store called "Kirisame Magic Shop" in the Magic Forest, a place where even youkai, let alone humans, rarely venture, while devoting herself to magical research every day. Sometimes she gleefully heads out to exterminate youkai. (Of course, stealing Reimu's requests is only natural.)
As is the fate of a magician, she lives apart from the lives of ordinary people.
One of the reasons she shuts herself away in the Magic Forest is that people don't come near. She doesn't want to be interrupted during her research, and if she wants to see people, she can just go out herself.
She has a collecting habit and believes that "the act of collecting itself holds meaning." Because she can't bring herself to throw things away, her home in the Magic Forest (the Kirisame Magic Shop) has become something of a small forest of unorganized magic items and the like.
As a magician, she gets along well with youkai who use magic. However, she isn't particularly liked by them. She has a cat-and-dog relationship with Alice Margatroid (which is only natural, since she tied her up and stole her grimoire, yet despite that, they often team up during incidents).
Surprisingly, she's quite good at cooking and has a wide repertoire.
At the Hakurei Shrine, she's sometimes put on meal duty even during peaceful times. Also, in Touhou Suichouka, when the conversation turned to comparing her cooking skills with Sakuya's, she boasted that she'd show off her cooking next time. While the work depicts her as not matching Sakuya, it's clear she has considerable confidence and pride in her cooking. Despite her Western-style appearance, she prefers Japanese food (apparently she'd only eaten 13 slices of bread by the time of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil).
She's friends with Reimu, and in the endings of various works, she often visits the Hakurei Shrine to play.
She also seems to take on the role of organizer when banquets are held at the shrine. She also visits the Scarlet Devil Mansion, Eientei, and the underground former capital, and her range of activity seems to expand with each resolved incident.
She has a family home in the Human Village that runs a large antique shop, but she's practically estranged from her father.
This is related to the fact that they don't deal in magical tools; apparently she was disowned by her family, and Marisa herself also avoids getting involved with her family home (or rather, her old man).
Also, she's known Rinnosuke Morichika, who was training at that antique shop before Marisa was even born, since before she could even remember, and by that point he had already become independent and opened Kourindou. Perhaps because of this, many of her traits, like her collecting habit and star magic, were influenced by him. She calls Rinnosuke "Kourin," after the name of his shop. She's apparently felt at ease with Kourindou since she was a child.
