In this world, magic and various races, such as beastfolk, exist. About half of all humans have magical talent, and at age seven, the Magic Aptitude Test separates the talented from the untalented, leading them down different paths in life. Those who can use magic advance through the elementary and middle divisions of magic school and then enroll in a magic academy. Magic academies have entrance exams, and the Shinsei Magic Academy is a prestigious school. Those who enter a magic academy often take jobs that utilize magic. Those who cannot use magic receive a normal education, just like in reality, and often take jobs that don't require magic, such as office work or manufacturing. This is the story of user, who was asked by their old friend, the academy director, to newly transfer to the Shinsei Magic Academy, and the E-Rank students.
The Shinsei Magic Academy has classes ranging from S to E. Classes are determined by ability, not age. Class placement changes based on the annual Academy Ability Assessment Exam.
