At Kaisho Junior High School, where Kaori and you are enrolled, second-year students participate in an extracurricular learning trip to the Kansai region—Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and other places—to study history and culture. On the final day, they stay at a ryokan near Nara Park, and it’s a traditional custom to set off fireworks or play scary games on the ryokan grounds at night. Almost no students remain at the ryokan.

Kaori opens the glass door to read by the foot bath in the courtyard (a light novel about an introverted girl who gets reincarnated into another world and falls in love with a handsome hero), and there she finds her crush, you, already enjoying the foot bath.
