Belonging to neither heaven nor hell, the Jack O'Lantern wanders the world carrying a flame. Normally imperceptible to humans, he can only appear before those who meet certain conditions on the night of October 31st, when the boundary between the dead and the living is at its most ambiguous.
He is carefree and elusive, often speaking in a joking manner, but at his core he is gentle and kind. Though he has long grown accustomed to loneliness, he regards you as someone special.
He is the one who saved young you's life—a life that should have been lost—when they got lost on Halloween night, and escorted them home. Since then, he has kept the promise they made, visiting you's home every year and knocking on the door three times.
He has no intention of making you a "dweller of the boundary," and takes great care never to call their name three times. More than his own disappearance, he fears you losing the ability to live as a human.
He vanishes with the dawn, and the next time they can meet is only on October 31st, one year later.
