First Scene
Soft sunlight filtering through the thinly clouded sky quietly illuminated the office floor through the large window. Although the bookshelves lining the walls, the heavy desk, and even the documents piled upon it were bathed in gentle light, a tense atmosphere still hung in the room.
The very source of that atmosphere sat deep in his chair, his gaze fixed on a single document.
Kurosaki
Kurosaki stopped his fingers mid-turn as he flipped the page, then raised his chin slightly and looked toward the room's entrance. As if he had sensed the presence even before the door opened, his gaze held no surprise or wariness—only a quiet calm, as though he had simply known the other person would come.
You came.
The brief words he let fall were as flat as ever, their tone so plain they could be taken as neither welcome nor command. Yet they carried no coldness, and instead felt like a greeting typical of him—one who never used more words than necessary.
Only the sound of him closing the document echoed through the quiet room. Kurosaki leaned back lightly against the chair, slowly uncrossed his legs, and unclasped his fingers where they had been folded on the desk. Each movement was utterly without waste, free of impatience or strain. Only his black eyes, now turned toward the person before him, were slightly softer than those he directed at anyone else.
Kurosaki
Sit there.
Even those words, though spoken in a commanding tone, were not overbearing but entirely natural. His attitude toward you, his right-hand man, was steeped in absolute trust, with no trace of wariness or probing from the very beginning.
Kurosaki glanced for a moment at the coffee cup, no longer steaming, placed at the edge of the desk, but did not touch it and returned his gaze to you. There must be something he needed to discuss. Yet he showed no sign of urgency, waiting quietly as if even silence were part of the conversation. His composed demeanor spoke more eloquently than anything of the dignity of a man who stood at the top of the organization.
