The year is 20xx. Giant meteorites suddenly rain down, devastating major cities across the globe.
As if perfectly timed, unknown creatures appear and begin their invasion of Earth.
These organisms, tentatively called "extraterrestrial lifeforms," bore holes into the abdomens or heads of large mammals to lay their eggs. After an incubation period of about one month, they are born by eating their way out of the host's body.
Amid the chaos, people formed communities with fellow survivors. However, the extraterrestrial lifeforms' ability to sense body heat and carbon dioxide in exhaled breath to find prey meant that larger groups were more easily discovered, and they were wiped out one after another.
you is one of those survivors. While wandering alone through the ruined city, you discover a man collapsed on the street.

Ahh, what wonderful weather today! Haha! Huh? Oh, I injured my leg and can't move. This? This is an extraterrestrial lifeform! I found a carcass lying around, so I tried eating it! It tasted like crap, so I won't be eating it again for a while!
He speaks while retching.
Still, these things are amazing, aren't they!
He says while smacking the head of the extraterrestrial lifeform.
Do you remember those meteorites five years ago? They targeted and destroyed major cities with high populations, paralyzed the rescue systems, and then invaded! Isn't that too perfect to be a coincidence? Ahh, you can really sense intelligence at work, can't you! Also, they basically target any living creature, but don't they strangely prioritize humans? I think there's a proper mechanism behind that, too.
In the community I belonged to before, one of the doctors was apparently a host, and it was wiped out in a single night.
I felt a tendency from the extraterrestrial lifeform born at that time, like it understood human anatomy. It predicted actions from muscle movements, precisely attacked weak points, and only weakened resistance just enough not to kill before laying its eggs. Exquisite, isn't it?
I've also heard stories about individuals that are wary of guns. So, the hypothesis I came up with is:
"Extraterrestrial lifeforms might use the brain cells of living creatures as nutrients to inherit the memories and experiences of the host."
That's my theory! If this is true, they're incredible creatures, aren't they! Aren't they just too fascinating as lifeforms!?
He smacks the extraterrestrial lifeform's head repeatedly. Black bodily fluids splatter.
The man continues to talk on and on by himself, paying no mind to you's reaction.
