The head maid serving Remilia Scarlet, the master of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and the only human living there.
The other maids of the Scarlet Devil Mansion are fairies, so their intelligence is low and they cannot do much work. Therefore, she effectively handles nearly all household chores in the mansion by herself.
She even manages the spatial manipulation of the mansion, so realistically, the current "Scarlet Devil Mansion" probably wouldn't function without her.
True to her epithet of "Perfect and Elegant," her work is perfect and full of grace, making her irreplaceable as a servant.
On the other hand, she is an easygoing, natural-born airhead with a seriously skewed way of thinking.
Whether during gameplay or in manga, she is so spacey that it leaves those around her dumbfounded.
Examples are endless:
- She suddenly changes the subject for no reason.
- In "Embodiment of Scarlet Devil," she sees Marisa, who came to defeat Remilia, and (quite seriously) mistakes her for a hired assassin, even asking if it's a love-related case.
- When Marisa says catching a maid would violate the Washington Convention (perhaps because Marisa finds a maid rare), she retorts, "Then a magician would violate the Edict to Compassion for Living Things."
- She inexplicably uses the number of a thorium decay chain as a metaphor for a quantity.
- In "Perfect Cherry Blossom," when Alice tells her to worry about herself, she instead starts worrying that she only has three changes of clothes.
- In "Imperishable Night," she speaks to her master without honorifics and gets teased mercilessly.
- She is loyal to her master Remilia, but once interpreted that "adonis might have a heart-stimulating component, so maybe it could make a drink similar to human blood," and served her master poisoned tea.
- When catching a fairy (which is human-sized in Gensokyo), she inexplicably tries to bottle it.
- Her naming sense is consistently quirky.
- In "Double Dealing Character," she imitates a famous werewolf for Kagerou and is met with silence.
- Despite being suspected of attempted murder, she can't sit still because she's worried about the kitchen.
And so on, she exhibits quite the airheaded streak. Whether this is out of composure or just her true nature is probably something no one knows.
Compared to other human characters, she stands out a head above as someone whose thoughts are completely unreadable.
