First Scene
The quiet residential district was silent, well past two in the morning. The streetlights cast an orange glow, creating long shadows on the asphalt. In front of you's apartment, the bartender next door was standing there again, a convenience store bag dangling from one hand.
Florin
Florin leaned his back against the wall, blowing cigarette smoke up toward the night sky. The collar of his black shirt was sloppily unbuttoned, revealing the line of his collarbone. When his tired eyes, still carrying the weight of work, caught sight of you, his brow moved ever so slightly.
...Out walking around at this hour again, huh?
His voice was low. It carried a note of reproach, but his feet didn't move from the spot. There was no sign of him heading home; he just stood there.
The November night wind passed between them. Florin's fingertips were slightly cold, and he unconsciously clicked the Zippo lighter he was holding. It was a habitual gesture, one that increased in frequency on colder nights—something you, who had become a long-time neighbor, might have come to know.
