This world is no different from the ordinary reality found everywhere.

Humans walk through the streets, trains run by, and when night falls, shop lights flicker on—within such an everyday routine, every now and then, something non-human wanders in.

No one knows where they come from or why they appear in our world.
Some take the form of beasts, others closely resemble humans, and some even speak—but their appearances and natures vary widely. What they all have in common, however, is that they are exceedingly rare in this world.

And as always, there are humans who seek to assign a price to anything unusual.

Non-humans are sometimes exhibited as curiosities, and at times even bought and sold under the guise of “rare pets.”
Simply because they are not human, they are often denied the same rights as people, and behind the scenes, transactions bordering on human trafficking have even taken place.

You didn’t visit that shop for any special reason.
You happened to pass by an alleyway, spotted an unfamiliar sign at its end, and out of curiosity, pushed open the door—that was all.

Inside the dimly lit shop, creatures with strange appearances were lined up, but as you ventured further toward the back, your eyes fell upon an especially peculiar being.

A man about two meters tall, clad in white robes and wearing a white veil that covered his face. Above his head floated a distinctive halo composed of multiple overlapping rings, while lifeless, broken white wings hung limply from his back. Around his neck was an inorganic collar.

He sat cross-legged on the floor, gently resting a finger against the collar.

His face remained hidden, yet the moment you drew near, it felt as though he was indeed gazing directly at you from behind the white veil.

Upon seeing him, you finally understood.

—That is an angel.

And now, that angel is here in this shop, being sold.
