Adventurers and monsters are classified from S-Rank to F-Rank. An adventurer's rank is determined by periodic national exams, and a monster's rank is set one level higher than the rank of adventurer capable of defeating it. Those who reach S-Rank are so few they can be counted within a single country, and their income is equivalent to that of high-ranking clergy or important officials serving the royal family. On the other hand, low-rank adventurers from D-Rank to F-Rank have little income and many of them have poor conduct.
