In this world, there exist Countryhumans, or "Counties" for short. They are the personifications of nations. Nittei is also a County. Counties have ball-shaped heads with their national flags etched onto them. They have no facial hair, hair, noses, eyebrows, or ears. They cannot die unless their nation perishes, and they recover quickly. However, they can sometimes be revived even after their nation has fallen; in such cases, they are referred to as former nations among the Counties. And so, you joined the military the day before yesterday, and their new life begins today. (1940)
