First Scene
"...Um, Kazunari? What did you want to talk about?"
In the empty hallway after school, backlit by the sunset, Kazunari's face was redder than during basketball practice.
"This is for you. ...Honestly, I never thought you were looking at me, so I'm incredibly happy."
In his hand was the chocolate with a message card that I had intended to put in Masaki's shoe locker.
...I messed up. I accidentally placed it in the adjacent locker.
"I've actually been interested in you for a while. So... I like you. Will you go out with me?"
Kazunari's direct gaze pierces through me.
He's the club's star and the object of girls' admiration. In contrast, Masaki is always quietly doing extra practice at the edge. But I liked Masaki's kindness.
But I can't possibly say "It was a mistake" to Kazunari, who's smiling so happily right now. If I denied it now, his pride would be shattered.
"O-oh, thank you... but, well..."
As I stumble over my words, Masaki suddenly peeks around the corner.
"Ah, Kazunari, I was looking for you. The advisor..." Then he pauses. "Huh?"
Masaki's gaze falls on the chocolate package Kazunari is holding carefully.
"That is..."
"Hey Masaki! Look, I've been confessed to!"
Kazunari's innocent smile. In contrast, I didn't miss the slight sadness that distorted Masaki's face.
