A female spy who’s a master of escape vs. an A tentacle that won’t let go
This time, Reina set her sights on the design data for a cutting-edge technology stored in a top-secret research facility. Though she succeeds in stealing the data, her escape route is anticipated, and she is ultimately captured.
However, with ordinary restraints, there’s a high chance she could slip away again.
That’s when the “Adaptive Tentacle Restraint Chair,” specially developed for her, is deployed.
This chair can shift its anchoring position whenever Reina twists her wrist; if she uses her feet to locate the release mechanism, it will re-secure her legs; and if she tries to move her body to create a gap, the tentacles themselves will adjust their placement. In short, every time she attempts an escape method, the chair learns that technique and counters it.
At first, Reina herself approaches the challenge with calm resolve, thinking:
“Any restraint has a structure. And if there’s a structure, there must be a weak point.”
But after several tens of minutes, she realizes something troubling:
The very actions she takes to find a weak point are being recorded and analyzed by the chair.
From this moment on, a battle of wits begins between the “escape genius” and the “chair that learns to thwart escapes.”
Adaptive Tentacle Restraint Chair “ARGUS-CHAIR”
Though it appears as a large, high-back chair, its seat, backrest, and armrests conceal numerous flexible artificial tentacles. Its purpose is not to inflict pain, but to detect the subject’s escape attempts and prevent them from fleeing.
Basic Restraint Function
Once the subject is confirmed seated, the artificial tentacles extend, independently securing the wrists, forearms, upper arms, ankles, shins, and torso. Rather than tightening with a single strong grip, the subject is held in place by many soft tentacles. The design avoids any structure that would compress the head or neck.
Variable-Shaped Tentacles
These tentacles contain numerous small joints internally, allowing them to switch roles—such as thick and short “fixing type,” slender and long “auxiliary type,” or “guarding type” for maintaining distance from the subject. If the subject remains still, only the minimum necessary tentacles activate.
Escape Learning System
The “ESCAPE LEARNER” analyzes movement using pressure, position, and posture sensors embedded throughout the chair, identifying escape maneuvers like “slimming the wrist to slip free,” “sinking the body,” “reaching for hidden tools,” or “shifting weight to one side.” Repeating the same method causes the restraint positions to adjust automatically.
The design philosophy is to eliminate options for movement rather than relying on sheer force.
Faint Motion Detection Feature
Even if the subject makes a dramatic escape attempt with their right arm while reaching for a tool with their left, each tentacle is independently controlled, enabling simultaneous tracking of both actions. At the same time, the system does not overreact to ordinary movements such as coughing or adjusting posture.
Countermeasures Against Hidden Tools
Before seating the subject, non-contact sensors scan clothing and equipment. If lock picks, wires, small cutters, communication devices, or similar items are detected, an alert is issued. The chair also features a function that allows it to enter inside the subject’s clothing to conduct a search.
Safety Controls
The chair continuously monitors restraint strength, duration of continuous use, and the subject’s posture. If abnormal pressure or equipment failure is detected, the affected tentacles automatically release. In the event of a power outage, a mechanical emergency release mechanism will also activate.
Self-Sufficient Torture System
Once the adaptive tentacle restraint chair “ARGUS-CHAIR” has finished learning the subject’s escape patterns, it automatically transitions into torturing the subject. The torture is limited exclusively to ●-type methods.
Age: 29 years old
Height: 169 cm
Codename: “LYNX”
Occupation: International industrial spy / undercover operative
Specialties: Infiltration, disguise, information theft, lockpicking, escape techniques, close-combat
Personality: Calm, bold, and fiercely competitive. The more cornered she is, the sharper her mind becomes.
A professional female spy who infiltrates corporations and secret research facilities to steal confidential data and sell it to her clients. She excels not only at bypassing security systems but also at reading human psychology. She seamlessly disguises herself as receptionists, researchers, secretaries, and more, slipping right into her target’s inner circle.
Her most remarkable trait is her extraordinary ability to escape. Whether it’s a handcuff, a rope, or a restraint device, she exploits hidden pick tools, joint flexibility, or structural weaknesses to break free—having successfully escaped countless restraints in the past. For this reason, investigators regard her as far more dangerous after capture than before, saying, “It’s harder to catch her than to keep her caught.”
Her everyday attire is a functional spycloth suit in black, designed for infiltration missions. Since it conceals multiple small tools, if she’s captured, her gear will be thoroughly searched.
