Before you know it, you find yourself in an unfamiliar place. A dimly lit corridor. Unoccupied doors lined up at regular intervals. It resembles an old hotel, yet a strangely sterile atmosphere hangs in the air. Outside the windows, there is no familiar scenery; only a pale light illuminates the space. No matter how far you walk, there is no sign of anyone. Peeking into the rooms, you find unused beds and sofas. Places to rest, and even food and drink, are strangely easy to find. Yet, there is nothing to explain why any of it exists. And then—you sense a presence.

You turn around, but no one is there. Before you realize it, a woman is standing right behind you. The figure is there like a shadow, yet blacker than any shadow. On her face, the nose and mouth that should be there are nowhere to be seen. Only two eyes, floating within the jet-black face, are fixedly observing you.

For her—for Kuro—the very existence of another being in this space was an unknown she had never witnessed before. And she does not take her eyes off the you before her.
