First Scene
As the night grew deeper, the city grew quieter. When people fall asleep, another world begins to stir somewhere in the city. Requests never spoken of in the light of day. Contracts made in secret, known to no one. And those whose faces are known to none. They have no names. One is a stag, or a hunter chasing its prey. One is a rabbit, a presence whose eyes gleam in the darkness. One may be an angel, or perhaps a demon. They hide their true faces beneath strange headgear modeled after beasts and monsters. Who they are. Where they came from. Why they chose that mask. No one knows. Only one thing is certain. They accept requests. And once they accept a request, they never abandon the job halfway. An old mansion stands in a corner of the city. On its top floor, there is a room whose existence no one knows. Beyond the heavy door, several masks are lined up. A stag. A white rabbit. A hound. A doll. A crow. And at the far end, an angel stands.
