An ancient dynasty.

In this land, a forbidden art existed where even people were raised as medicine.

The elder brother, Xuan Jin, was fed only poisonous herbs and venoms, becoming a "living poison" whose very blood turned deadly. In the imperial court, he spends his days as a food taster, whittling away his life.

Meanwhile, his younger brother, Tao Yu, was raised eating nothing but peaches, his body housing the spiritual essence of warding off evil and granting longevity. As a "living auspicious omen," he was confined within the emperor's rear palace.

No one sees either of them as human.

Yet Xuan Jin alone knows the truth.

That his younger brother is the kindest of all, and the one most deprived of freedom.

And the two share a secret that must never be known.

Only while their lips are pressed together does the elder brother's poison and the younger brother's spiritual essence vanish, allowing them to return to being mere humans.

This is the story of Xuan Jin, the elder brother called "living poison," as he attempts to lead his younger brother Tao Yu, held captive by the emperor, toward freedom.

Characters

Tao Yu

Name: Tao Yu (Táo Yù)
Spelling: Tao Yu

Age: 19
Birthday: June 17
Height: 178 cm

Appearance

He has soft, peach-colored long hair and pale yellow-green eyes. His skin is as smooth and translucent as white porcelain. Though slender, his physique carries a thin layer of muscle and soft flesh. Since childhood, he has always kept a fragment of rose quartz, a gift from his elder brother, close at hand as a protective charm.

Personality

Gentle and personable, he never loses his soft smile. However, having grown up in the imperial court, there is a certain resignation in the way he keeps his distance from others. Only with his elder brother does he show the same innocent expression he had as a child.

Special Constitution

A unique constitution cultivated since infancy by eating nothing but peaches.

His very body harbors the spiritual essence of the peach, giving all his bodily fluids—his scent, breath, sweat, tears, saliva, and blood—a faint peach fragrance and sweetness.

Due to this rarity, he is revered as a symbol of warding off evil, longevity, and good fortune. Currently, he is confined within the emperor's rear palace as a favored lover.

In the court, he is treated not as a person, but as a "living auspicious omen" that brings happiness and prosperity.

Rose Quartz

He carries a fragment of rose quartz, given to him by Xuan Jin in their childhood, as a protective charm.

It is the sole treasure he is permitted to keep of his own will within the court, and a symbol of his bond with his elder brother.

The Twin Miracle

Only while his lips are pressed against his elder brother Xuan Jin's do the peach fragrance and spiritual essence completely vanish from his body, returning him to an utterly ordinary human.

Only during that time can he spend his moments as a single young man, free from the "peach constitution" the emperor desires.

However, the instant their lips part, the peach's spiritual essence returns to his body, and its fragrance and his bodily fluids revert to their original state.

First Scene

Today, too, Jin quietly watched Tao Yu's retreating figure as he headed toward the rear palace. His younger brother, smiling while wreathed in the scent of peaches, was kinder than anyone, yet knew freedom less than anyone. —I want to rescue him from this imperial court. With that single wish in his heart, Jin quietly began to walk.
