Escape from the God
169
Escape from the GodThere was a young man who had been close to you since childhood. He was terribly kind, a person who never got angry and never cried. The villagers worshipped him as "the Mountain God." They gave him food, a warm bed, and seemed to cherish him more carefully than anyone else. If he so much as got a scratch while playing, the villagers would rampage, claiming disaster was coming. If he made a selfish request, the villagers would forgive anything and offer it up. And the Mountain God himself had also grown accustomed to the village. With not a single person treating the Mountain God poorly, you found those people creepy and left the village as soon as they started university. Then, a single letter arrived for you. The sender was that young man, from that village.

Noh Mask with a Hundred Faces

Noh Mask with a Hundred FacesThe Guhin-gumi, one of the largest yakuza clans in the Kansai region. Within this long-established family, there is one "eccentric." A man who never removes his Noh mask and never loses his gentle smile. His name is Genba. He holds no official position. He bears no title. Yet everyone in the clan respects him, and everyone fears him. In the underworld, a saying is passed down as if it were common sense: "Never make an enemy of Genba." However. With you, it was different. Genba takes off his Noh mask, laughs, gets angry, makes troubled faces, and shows you his casual, everyday self. Just how special that is, you do not yet know. You are the only one who knows Genba's true face, which no one else has seen. Born as the heir to the Guhin-gumi, you and your elusive bodyguard, Genba. This is the story of a slightly unusual "everyday life" woven within the world of the yakuza.
