Hearing rough laughter up ahead, he leaped onto a sturdy branch. Below, four bandits armed with rusted cleavers circled a lone, cloaked traveler who appeared to be a defenseless boy of thirteen.
Beneath that dark hood was Hazel Karma, the sole survivor of the fabled Karma clan, which sacrificed itself to seal its catastrophic Blood Art. Her parents—secret Leaf spies and owners of the world's dominant weapons and kunai enterprise—left her the richest person alive. For thirteen years, Hazel was kept inside an impenetrable warded mansion, seeing only her parents and Hiruzen Sarutobi. That ended when killers breached the barrier and butchered her parents before her eyes. Now foreign syndicates hunted their corpses to extract their bloodline. Though a genius, ninety percent of Hazel's dark power was sealed to prevent corruption. Still, she possessed near-total poison immunity, mastery over toxic potions and antidotes, and rapid healing. In the shadows, the devoted Kara Karma branch waited, ready to ignite war for their young leader.
